Scotty & the Barrelmakers is a Santa Cruz-based Americana jam band led by Bay Area veteran musician Scott Cooper. The band showcases Cooper's songwriting with jams that build in dynamics culminating in climactic jams. Cooper is familiar to many through his work with the China Cats, Gary Gates Band and others. Cooper's first CD reached #5 on Relix magazine's jam band radio charts and the follow-up "Batik in Blue" has just been released to more great reviews.
Fans of Tedeschi Trucks, Little Feat, the Radiators, Grateful Dead, Ry Cooder, and David Lindley will appreciate the band's songs, grooves and jams.
The band includes former Dark Star Orchestra drummer Mark Corsolini, lap steel genius Scott Walker, versatile veteran bassist Terry Shields, and pianist Lachlan Kane who also contributes original material and stellar harmony vocals.
"An all-star cast of Bay Area jam-band musicians who have worked with members of the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band, Galactic, Dark Star Orchestra and many others. However, the band differs from most jam bands by the quality of the songwriting steeped in blues, country, vintage rock and New Orleans R&B." -- Davis Enterprise
The band has performed throughout California including Brick & Mortar (SF), Moe's Alley (Santa Cruz), Ashkenaz (Berekeley), Sweetwater (Mill Valley), Silo's (Napa), Mr. Ricks (Avila Beach), Barmel (Carmel), Don Quixote's (Felton), as well as festivals such as the Redwood Mountain Fair, La Honda Fair, etc.
